Even if you don’t use Whatsapp, there is a great chance you have at least heard of it. It is one of the most popular messaging apps. To send a message, one needs to add the contact in their phonebook or contacts. Even if it is for a brief chat about something with somebody you will never talk with again, you will need to have their contacts saved. There are 3rd party apps that can do the job for you, but security might be of concern. However, there are ways that do not require you to install any 3rd party apps. Method 1: Using api.whatsapp.com
The steps are easy to follow and it gets the job done. Follow the steps below;
Step 1: Open a web browser.
Step 2: In the URL bar, type in the following address – https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=XXX
Step 3: In the place of XXX, enter the phone number of the recipient. You should enter the country code before the number and after the =. Exclude the + sign.
Step 4: Hit enter.
Step 5: You will be directed to Whatsapp and you can send a message to the number you’ve entered.
Method 2: Using wa.me
This method is similar to the aforementioned method. It just uses a different URL. Follow the steps;
Step 1: Open the web browser of your preference.
Step 2: In the URL bar, copy and paste the following address – https://wa.me/phonenumber
Step 3: Instead of phonenumber, enter the phone number of the recipient.
The number must contain the country code, region code and the phone number itself. You do not need the + sign. For example, https://wa.me/123456789, where the number is +1-234-567-89.
Method 3: Using an app
If you find above methods confusing, you can use an app to do the job for you. There is an app called Click 2 Chat that lets you bypass the restriction of Whatsapp that requires you to send message to only those who are in your contacts.
All you have to do is enter the number and you will be redirected to a chat screen. You can get it for free from the Google Play Store.
