Users of the Google Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro have reported many text message-related difficulties. On their Pixel devices, several users report being unable to send or receive text messages. Although the problem is already being reported on Google Bug reporter, there is yet no formal resolution. The problem might be brought on by problematic default messaging apps and other app bugs. In this article, we will examine this problem in detail and provide some troubleshooting techniques to resolve it. Here’s how to fix Google Pixel 7 not receiving SMS.

Is Google Pixel 7 Series Worth It?

The Google Pixel 6 series from a year ago completely reset Google’s goals for smartphones. The company debuted all-new hardware with the iconic visor lens bulge, a redesigned UI that changes colors according to the wallpaper, as well as the Google Pixel 6 Pro variant that stands out from the standard model in terms of appearance and feel. With such a significant transition behind us, it’s encouraging to see that Google is standing by the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. The new Pixel 7 devices are precisely that in this regard. One of the finest Android phones available, it’s a progression and improvement of the pattern that the Pixel 6 initially began.

The Pixel 7 is superior to the Pixel 6 in much the same way that Android 13 would be to Android 12. It’s a more polished, more attractive piece of hardware that eliminates some of the greatest flaws in its predecessor while adhering to Google’s vision for the Pixel range, which prioritizes functionality over specifications. With Google pitching the Pixel family as its idea for Android, it carries some weight, but based on our experience with the phone, we’re certain that Google has succeeded. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any bugs.

How to Fix Google Pixel 7 Not Receiving SMS?

In comparison to other recent smartphones, the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are fantastic smartphones with excellent features and a software and hardware setup. But even with all the functionality and optimization, there will inevitably be some technical issues with the device. One such issue is that users are unable to text messages. The majority of people believe that the cause may be local network problems or a questionable Mobile carrier. You can take a few actions to have the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones back to receiving text messages. Let’s look at some solutions that might fix Google Pixel 7 not receiving SMS.

Reboot Device

Like I always say, reboot first Google later. This holds true for this issue too. Restarting your device is the first action to do. Rebooting your device can sometimes solve issues like these. Press and hold your Power button for a few seconds and tap on Reboot.

Boot to Safe Mode

Your device is blocked off from any non-stock applications when in safe mode. Your device will enter safe mode and return to its factory settings, which may help you solve your problem. If this way, you start receiving text messages, then there is a problem with your settings, or a 3rd party app is acting up. To boot into safe mode, press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons > tap and hold the Restart button > tap on Reboot to safe mode.

Contact Service Provider

Try taking out and replacing your SIM card in your smartphone, then try sending yourself texts using a different device. Call your service provider and file a complaint if you’re still not getting text messages.

Clear Cache

When your application causes issues, clearing the cache data is crucial. Clearing the app cache will not only free up some storage space, but it will also remove any corrupted data that might be causing any issues. To clear messaging app cache, go to Settings > Apps > Message > Storage & Cache > Clear Cache.

Reset Network Settings

It’s possible that you aren’t getting the text message simply because your network isn’t sending it to your smartphone. To repair it, try clearing the network settings. Go to Settings > System Advanced > Reset > Reset WiFi, mobile & Bluetooth.

Check the Messages App

Since Google Pixel ships with the default version of Android OS, the messaging app automatically categorizes your messages. You are protected from spam and unwanted texts by doing so. There is a good chance that some messages will end up in the junk box and never make it to your message box. Open Message app > tap on the 3-dot menu > select Spam and Blocked.

Use 3rd Party App

The app itself may be buggy if not a single of the aforementioned fixes worked for you. But don’t panic, you can easily replace the default Android messaging app with additional third-party apps. Just install one from the Google Play Store. Some of the most popular ones are Chomp SMS, Textra, and Go SMS.

Factory Reset

Use this as a last resort if none of the above solutions worked for you. All of your data will be deleted from the smartphone during a factory reset, thereby turning it into a brand-new device. Before continuing, back up all of your crucial files to your drive.

  1. None of these worked. I originally thought it was Google Fi’s network that wasn’t working but now I am on Verizon and it’s still a problem. Should have stuck with a Galaxy!!
