Plus, it is part of Gapps that comes loaded when you buy an Android device. But this is not the only reason you use the app. You don’t just use it just because it is there. Sure it is convenient but there’s more to that. Google Maps has been at the top of the navigation app for a long time. It is reliable and comes loaded with tons of features that you didn’t know you needed. You get reviews about places you are planning to visit, it is great for finding directions and has a street view of most of the places. Moreover, you get informed about traffic jams, police locations, and other important information. One such feature is the ability to control music playback when you’re on Google Maps. This is useful when you are using the app for direction while driving. Here’s how to control music on Google Maps.

This option is not enabled by default. You need to do it manually. Here’s how to do it.

First and foremost you need to make sure you have the latest version. Go to the Google Play Store and update it to the latest version if the app is outdated. Then, open Google Maps and look for the hamburger menu. It is the icon with 3 horizontal lines. You will find it at the top of the app. Tap on it and a navigation drawer will open. Once you are inside, find Navigation and tap on it. You need to enable Show media playback controls option. Then,  find Music Controls option. Tap on it and choose what music service you want to use. you get to choose from Spotify and Google Music.

This will enable music playback while navigating. The music will pause every time the app needs to tell you which way to go. This way you get to enjoy good music while getting the right directions.
