You can also use Chrome instead of stock web browser to browse the web free off any popups. To block popup ads on Chrome, tap on 3 dot menu > Settings. Now you need to scroll down till you find Site Settings and once inside it tap on Pop-ups. By default popups are already being blocked but in case it is disabled, tap on the switch to enable it.

If enabling both the ad blocker and data saver on Chrome didn’t do the trick, you can always opt for a third party app for blocking ads. If your device is rooted, you can install Ad-Block Plus. Don’t worry if your device is not rooted; blocking ad can be tricky but not impossible. First install Ad-Block Plus. Since a non rooted device cannot automatically configure network setting on Ad-Block Plus, you have to do it manually. Open the app > Tap on Configure and then note the proxy configuration. Then go to your device’s Settings and then on WiFi. Long press the name of the currently connected network and tap on Modify network. Check on Show advance options > go to Proxy Settings > change it from None to Manual. Now enter the setting from Ad Block Plus.
