The Google Play Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4 has started getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The users has already started getting the notification for the Over The Air update.

Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE

The users will have to notice that this is the 5.0 Lollipop version, not the bug-fix 5.0.1 version, and hence it may have some bugs after the update. The zip file size is about 500 MB, which will upgrade the OS of the Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE to Lollipop, from the Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE brings a host of new features and improvements to the Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE. They include fresh material design and brand new ART runtime, which is certain to speed up the device.

If you are a current user of the Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE you might have got the notification by now. Click on that notification, and proceed forward to update your phone to Android 5.0 Lollipop. If you have not got the notification, you can manually check the update by going to Menu >> Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates. The recent update now makes this handset one of the first devices to get the update (which is actually a matter for the Samsung Galaxy S4 GPE owners to rejoice and celebrate), since there are very few Android handsets till now which have got the update already.

There is no any official word about when this device will get the OTA update of the bug-fix version Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. We will update with any information available. Other siblings of the Samsung Galaxy S4, and Galaxy S5 are also expected to get the update very soon.
