The HTC has once again proved that it can bring the best Smartphone that can be the first choice of the people and even it can compete to other Flagship Smartphone out in the market so far. Yes, this time HTC has managed to grab the attention of the people world-wide with its Flagship phone HTC ONE M10 ( HTC 10 ). This phone is said to be the best that HTC has made so far with lots of improvement like placement of Speaker, both camera – front and back having OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), elegant design and many more.
Design wise there is slightly changed since last year. Actually this phone reminds us of HTC ONE A9 that was introduced a little ago. HTC ONE M10 has also metallic body with noticeable bezel around the display. The main changes is seen at back of the phone, it is pretty well design as we can say that it is eye catching, chamfered edges are now all around the rim of the device which provide a little bit of curve that makes the device feel better in the hand.
You will see Simcard Tray, Volume rocker and Power Button on the right side, Micro SD card on the left side, USB Type-C charging port, Speaker, Microphone on the button and Headphone Jack on the top of the phone. This time there is no IR Blaster on this device because HTC mention that it’s not widely used feature any more.
Some of the remarkable improvement over ONE M9 has been made this time. It is more powerful and better in all way. It runs on latest snapdragon 820 Octacore processor, latest Adreno 530 GPU and 4 GB of RAM with Micro SD card expansion and the version of Android is 6.0.1 that is Marshmallow. New feature we saw this time is, double swipe the phone downward in order to open up the camera.
Probably more important to notice how HTC streamline to their software instead of having multiple version of same application. The device keep the company own version or sticks to Google iteration and this consolidation does help overall with how the software feels even without the claim that HTC makes about how they make the software and the performance experiences better.
Display of HTC ONE M10
If we see the display of the phone then we can certainly find the improvement over previous models. The display is now 5.2 inch that comes in Quad HD resolution with super LCD5 capacitive touch screen made up of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It performs quite well in bright day light and has good amount of saturation to keep the color looking nice while using the phone. There are capacitive key at the bottom of the display including capacitive home button that has finger print senor. The home button can sense the finger print instantly and unlock straight to the home screen. It works quite well.
Camera of HTC ONE M10
This year it has returned with ultra pixel 2nd generation much like couple of the other phone we have seen so far this year. HTC prioritize large pixel so you get 12 MP this time at 1.55 micron sizes and aperture of 1.8. It boost the low light capability as it has OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). The camera app has been so much streamline with lots of different modes, just all in the side. One easy slide over menu and the numbers of other control are found on the right side so you can use the phone with one hand in Auto mode and can get the picture click quickly. It has pro manual mode which over lay all of the settings over the view finder covering the frame unless you pick the setting and then put the slider away. Other mode include Slow Motion video capture, Panorama and a hyper lapse feature. 4k Recording is also available but it now records high resolution audio which seems in line with the boom sound capability.
The camera is great perhaps the best edition in the camera experience is in the front facing shooter which is of 5Mp camera that can also record high resolution audio when you wanted to do selfie video. This time HTC is bringing, first to the smartphone world by pointing OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) in front facing camera. While this might help to portrait and lower light situation. This OIS is the good move by HTC as it is the distinguishing feature compared to the 2k video capture of Samsung galaxy S7 and the wide reaching wide angle range of the LG G5. Overall the camera features of HTC ONE M10 is the best that HTC has put on quite sometimes.
Gaming and Sound/Audio of HTC ONE M10
If we talk about the Gaming then it has smooth experience and good performance. High resolution game works perfectly fine and game does not lag in any way. Overall gaming in good and the hardcore Gamers is going to love it.
Audio remain one of the corner stone of the HTC experience and the boom sound is still here. Now the top phone speaker is backed up by bottom mounted sub woofer that help provide richer lower tone. It’s not going to be as loud as typical front facing stereo speaker even from previous HTC devices but we will admit that the sound stage has been improved better because of the lower speaker end. But when we plug in the good pair of headphone that’s where the real magic begins. A good pair of headphone will make you hear the difference that the M10 really makes. HTC put a 24 bit DAC and a headphone AMP to make boom sound great.
It has also Dolby headphone effects for enhancing which comes in the form of user controllable audio profile in which number of question might be asked for you in order to figure out what best listening profile to give you. You can also change equalizer bit by bit if you wish to but ultimately it really amps ups the sound while providing much more wider sound stage. The bottom line is that HTC ONE M10 has a lot of power to drive headphones and it’s very fun to get lost in the sound. M10 has 3000 mAh Non-removable battery and may last couple of day as the company promises. The boost+ application assist in couple of key way for example it can scale down games to full HD resolution so that the game does not take so much power. The device has Quick charge 3.0 capability so that the power should never be far that off. According to the claim of HTC, about half an hour on Quick charge 3.0 should provide one of those days and HTC has USB Type-C charging port.
