How to root Samsung Galaxy S7

This exploit only works for International SM-G930F/FD/X, Korean SM-G930S and Canadian SM-G930W8 Exynos models only. This is not for Qualcomm models. This exploit is not for G930P, G930V, G930R and G930A or US Snapdragon models as the bootloader of these models cannot be unlocked. If your device is not mentioned here, it is most probably because the exploit has not been discovered yet. Check this XDA thread for further information.

Rooting your Samsung Galaxy S7 will trip the KNOX and may void your phone’s warranty. Root at your own risk.

Steps to Root

Step 1: Go to Settings > About device and tap on Build number 7 times to enable Developer options.

Step 2: Go to Settings > Developer options. Find OEM unlocking and enable it. This is essential to avoid any boot problems or problems related to flashing later on.

Step 3: Download and extract Odin_3.10.7.zip on your computer.

Step 4: Install Samsung Mobile Phone Drivers.

Step 5: Download the .tar image of TWRP from here. Download the latest version.

Step 6: Reboot into Download mode. To do this, restart your phone from the power menu and hold Volume Down and Home button while your device reboots. When you reach the warning screen. Press Volume Up to continue.

Step 7: Open Odin and put the TWRP .tar file in the AP slot. Do not touch any other options. Click on Start.

Step 8: Hold down Volume UP and Home buttons when you are near the end of the flashing process and keep holding them until you get into recovery.

Step 9: You will be now asked if you want to allow system modifications. If you swipe right, you will trigger dm-verity and if you don’t follow step 12, you will be unable to boot. Follow the rest of the steps.

Step 10: Go to Wipe > Format Data and type ‘yes’. This will wipe your internal storage, factory reset your device and remove encryption.

Step 11: Go to Reboot > Recovery.

Step 12: Download SuperSu from here. Transfer the SuperSu.zip file to your device via TWRP using MTP. Flash it using Install.

If you only want bootable system partition the download dm-verity and force encryption disabler. Follow the same installation process as mentioned above.

Step 13: Go to Reboot > System to reboot your device. The first boot will take 5 to 15 minutes so don’t panic and be patient.
