Method 1: Using File Manager

- Open File Manager on your Android device. Customers who lack File Manager can install either Files by Google or ES File Explorer to access File System functions.
- Navigate to:
Internal Storage > WhatsApp > Media > WhatsApp Images
. - Create a New File:
- Choose the options menu by tapping on its characteristic dots or plus symbol then select “Create new file”.
- Enter the filename as ‘.nomedia’ with no extension at the beginning of the name.
- Save the File:
- This will make the folder invisible to the Gallery app.
- Clearing the Gallery app cache through this method helps new changes become active.
- Open the Settings menu then select Apps followed by Gallery (or Photos).
- Clear Cache of Gallery App:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Gallery (or Photos).
- Tap on Storage & Cache > Clear Cache.
Method 2: Using WhatsApp Settings (Recommended)

- Open WhatsApp on your Android device.
- Tap on the three-dot menu (⋮) at the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Go to Chats.
- Disable “Media visibility”:
Method 3: Hiding Specific Chats
To restrict image visibility within particular WhatsApp chat sessions proceed as follows:

- Open the WhatsApp application and navigate to the desired chat where you want to disable media visibility.
- Tap the chat name at the top untill it pops out.
- Select Media visibility.
- Choose No and tap OK.

Just a suggestion… while wiriting make sure your phone auto correct feature does not add space after “.” so name should be “.nomedia” instead of “. nomedia”. It will definitely work

Hi there, I deleted the file but only the images that are newly sent are coming up and not all the ones that have been sent to me via WhatsApp in the past. Is there any way to make those appear in Gallery?
