Samsung has finally started seeding the 5.0.1 Lollipop update for Galaxy Note Edge- one of the most innovative and most advanced smartphones released in 2014. Not all of the devices, but some of the Galaxy Note Edges have started getting the update notification starting from Australia. This implies that the update which the users are getting is a soak test version, and if everything goes right and as planned by the manufacturer, we expect to see the update for all the superphones worldwide, in a few days.

5.0.1 Lollipop update for Galaxy Note Edge

The update is for the Galaxy Note Edge of Model SM-N915G, and currently provided only in Australia. After the update completes the Version of Android in the device goes to 5.0.1 Lollipop, with Changelist 4144270 of Build date Fri, 13 Feb 2015 23:58:14 +0000. The Product code is XSA, along with PDA N915GXXU1BOB7 and CSC N915GXSA1BOB7.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was released at the same time as the Galaxy Note 4, and has almost the same specs and  functionality, except the extra curvy screen (as its name suggests), which does pose a lot of software challenges, and hence patience may be necessary to fine tune the new OS to the odd new host.

If you are one of the Australian users of the Galaxy Note Edge, you might already have got an update notification by now, and in case you have not, you can check it manually in your device’s Settings >>About Phones >> System updates. If you find that your phone is ready to update, do note that the file size is of about 1 GB (which means you should use a WiFi Network to download the file), and make sure that you have enough charge and free storage in your device.

So, now that the 5.0.1 Lollipop update for Galaxy Note Edge starts from Australia, we hope to see it very soon in the United States, Europe and other parts of world where the device is sold. We will update about any information available.
