Motorola DROID TurboMotorola has just recently released a new super smartphone- the Motorola DROID Turbo. It was a long time rumored device, and comes with the specs which were expected or rumored as well. They include a 5.2 inches QHD display packed with a Snapdragon 805 chipset. The Motorola Droid Turbo was announced in a joint event by Motorola and Verizon today.

While discussing about the specs of the Motorola Droid Turbo, it features a 5.2-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super AMOLED capacitive display, which has a pixel density of 565 ppi. It will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and will have a Moto display feature. The handset sports a sleek profile with dimensions 143.5 x 73.3 x 7.8 mm and weighs 169 grams, which is quite heavy but is fine given the display size. The phone will have 32 or 64 GB of internal memory, with no any option of expandable storage. It has 3 GB RAM,  and for the processing power, there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset complied with a Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU, and an Adreno 420 GPU for gaming and graphics. For the photography and videography options, this smartphone will have a 21 MP primary camera with autofocus, optical image stabilization and LED flash which can capture videos upto 2160p @ 24 fps, and a 2 MP secondary camera for video calls and selfies. The juice will be provided by a Non-removable Li-Ion 3900 mAh battery. For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, InfraRed, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and NFC. The phone will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, with planned upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The OS of this device will be pure and stock Android. The phone will be available only in Metallic Red, black and Metallic Black color options in the market.

Along with the above mentioned specifications, the phone also promises to be quite resistant to tortures. It’s made either of ballistic nylon or metalized glass fiber reinforced with DuPont kevlar. The innards of the phone are covered with a water-repellent nanocoating, which makes this a waterproof smartphone (at least to some extent, or we can simply say splash resistant) as well. This phone will also support the Motorola’s Turbo charger, which will charge its massive battery in just 15 minutes, and will give you almost 8 hours of usage.

As of availability, the Motorola Droid Turbo will be available starting October 30 and the 32GB model in Ballistic nylon will be available for $199.99 with new two year contract or $25 per month on Verizon Edge. The 64GB Black Ballistic Nylon model will also be available for $249.99 with new two year activation or $27 per month on Verizon Edge.

With the announcement of this new phone, Motorola has added a new phone in the Droid series after a considerable long gap (Motorola has been releasing the Moto smartphones lately, with the Nexus 6 being latest). While the specs of the Motorola Droid Turbo are almost similar to the recently released Motorola Nexus 6 (the display size and battery are the main differences), how do you feel about this smartphone? Are you thinking to buy this? You can leave your opinions about this smartphone in the comment sections below.
