The Tech giant Google just took its storage service to a next level. With the release of Google’s Backup and Sync tool for Windows and MAC OS, protection of your files is now lot easier. Users can, now back up their entire computer to the drive. Back up and Sync combines the functionality of both, Google Drive and Google Photos, thus, bringing in more simplicity for the users.
As per Google’s blog, “It’s a simpler, speedier and more reliable way to protect the files and photos that mean the most to you.”
The tool helps you sync up anything from anywhere. Either be it from your PC or directly from SD cards or the digital camera you have, you can now sync your files easily.
Get started with Backup and Sync Feature
Step 2: After downloading Backup and Sync for Mac OS/Windows, sign in with your Google account and choose the files/folders to back up. The tool syncs up your files and folders at one place, helping you manage your desktop clutter easily.
Note: Before syncing, you can also choose how to upload your photos (at lower quality, if you want). Also, the feature provides an option to handle file deletions according to your will.
The application is free to download. However, initially Google provides 15 GB cloud storage for free Drive accounts. If required, you will need to pay for more storage space.
Backup and Sync is basically targeted for the consumer users for better user experience. For the G Suite customers, Google will be releasing Drive File Stream. Until then the G Suite customers are expected to hold on to Drive for Mac/Windows PC. Drive File Stream is currently at the Early Adopter Program(EAP). Sign up to the EAP, if you want to try the Drive File Stream ahead of its public launch.
