The Android One users are desparately waiting for the update notification for Lollipop, and Google has surprised them. The devices were fixed to get updates directly from Google even though the timeline was not mentioned, and Google is all over the promise made. Not to 5.0.1 or 5.0.2, if you are one of the happy users who got these update, you need to note that your latest update is already so old. Google is updating the Android One phones to 5.1 Lollipop  directly.

5.1 Lollipop

Though there are no any official reports from Google about the exciting new features of the 5.1 Lollipop, reports suggest that the new features include:

  • Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
  • General improvements in system stability
  • Improved RAM management
  • Fixes for sudden app closures
  • Improved battery management
  • Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
  • Issues with wireless connections fixed
  • Problems with Okay Google function solved
  • Notifications problems solved
  • Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
  • Other improvements and changes
  • Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users complaints, possibly for a higher version though)

However, the latest Nexus users have already started seeing the 5.1 build in their devices, which are:

Android 5.1; Nexus 5 Build/LMY29C
Android 5.1; Nexus 6 Build/LMY29C
Android 5.1; Nexus 6 Build/LMY29D
Android 5.1; Nexus 9 Build/LMY22E
Android 5.1; Nexus 6 Build/LMY22E

This was obvious to happen, as the Nexus line is always in the first priority for Google to push the updates. Though the numbers in the Android versions do not exactly reflect the amount of changes they have, in the 5.1 Lollipop, we guess lots of bug fixes and performance boosts will be in tow with the update, but Google is yet to release the official changelog, builds and source code. We also expect some other devices to get the update in the following months, and we will keep you updated about this.
