The Chinese Giant Xiaomi recently announced an Android TV – the MI TV 2 in China with 4K display resolution for CN¥3,999, which turns to be around $640. The announcement was done along with the MI Pad, and this is the second smart TV by the company, after its first with the same name.
The TV boasts a 49-inch 3-D capable panel made by either LG or CSOT within a 6.2mm aluminum bezel. It comes with MIUI TV skin, where you can load all TV apps, and all these are run by MediaTek MStar 6A918 chip (1.45GHz quad-core CPU, Mali-450 MP4 GPU) plus 2GB of RAM to drive all those pixels. It has a internal storage of 8 GB, with a built-in microSD slot expandable upto 64 GB.
The other features of the TV include a Bluetooth LE remote, which can produce a ‘beep’ sound when you tap on the android TV screen, in case you lose the remote. The TV can also be controlled by the phone, by installing the remote app. The app will also have a feature of providint the related information from IMDB about the programme which you’ll be watching in the TV.
Another plus point of the app is that it can even be controlled by voice or gestures. For the audio part of the android TV, it will be available in two separate parts- one with the wired mid-range speaker, and another will be a Bluetooth sub-woofer.
The Xiaomi TV 2 will be manufactured in large quantities than the first generation MI TV, and in case of availability, the TV will be available in China later this month, while nothing is said about the overseas shipment.
