Fix Google Play Store Error 8
This could be a Google account-related problem or it could be caused by the app itself. Whatever the case is, this troubleshooting guide should fix the problem. We’re going to start presuming it is an account-related problem.
Remove and Re-add Google Account: If this is a Google account related issue, simply remove the account and relinking it again with the device should fix the problem.
Follow the steps below to remove and re-add your Google Account;
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and find Accounts and Backup. Tap on it.
- Tap on Accounts.
- Tap on the Google account. If you have multiple accounts linked, remove all.
- Tap on Remove account. Confirm if asked.
- Restart your device.
- After reboot, go to the Settings again.
- Follow steps 2 to 3.
- Tap on Add account.
- Enter the Google account credentials (email and password).
- Open the Google Play Store app and see if the error is gone.
Forced Restart: This is a minor issue and like any other minor issue, a forced restart might solve it. A forced restart is closest to removing the battery. As it is not possible on today’s smartphones and tablets, forced restart is the closest this you could do.
To perform a forced restart;
- Press and hold the Volume Down button and do not release it yet.
- Press and hold the Power button.
- Wait for 10 seconds until you see the Samsung logo and then let go of the buttons.
Reset Google Play Store: Sometimes a corrupt cache and outdated Google Play Store data could be the culprit here. If the above solution didn’t work, you could reset the Google Play Store app to fix error 8.
To perform the reset;
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and find Apps. Tap on it.
- Find and tap on Google Play Store.
- Tap on Storage.
- Tap on Clear cache and then on Clear data. Press Ok to confirm.
- Reboot your device and see if the issue is resolved.
