You can easily find PokeStops and Gyms in Pokemon Go – just open the app and look around. PokeStops appear as little blue cubes and Gyms are tall structures with Pokémon defending them. However you can only see nearby PokeStops and Gyms that are within a mile radius. You can find other gyms and stops if you move around as the in game map won’t move till you physically move. Since Pokémon Go is still new, there is no universal map to show locations of each PokeStops and Gyms. However, there is a trick. Niantic, the creator of Pokémon Go, pulled out all the landmarks from its another augmented reality game called Ingress. There is a universal map of portals – like Stops and Gyms in Pokémon Go. You can use this map to locate PokeStops and Gyms. Read below to learn how to access the map to find PokeStops and Gyms.
Step 1: Download and install Ingress. It is available for free in the Google Play Store. Then, sign up using your Google login.
Step 2: On your computer, Open Chrome and install Tapermonkey and Ingress Intel Total Conversion browser add on. You can also use Firefox and Greesemonkey add on.
Step 3: After all the add-ons are installed successfully, open the Ingress Intel Map and sign in using your Google credentials that you used on step 1.
Step 4: Click on the layer button located at the upper right corner of the Ingress Intel Map and then click on Google Roads. Check the following boxes: Unclaimed Portals, Level 1 Portals, Level 2 Portals, Level 3 Portals, Level 4 Portals, Level 5 Portals, Level 6 Portals, Level 7 Portals, Level 8 Portals, Resistance, Enlightened, Artifacts, Ornaments, Pokestops and Gyms.
Step 5: Now you will see a map containing blue, green and orange spots and some Pokestops (red and white) and Gyms (blue with Pokeballs). All the blue, green and orange spots are Ingress portals and probably either PokeStops or Gyms in Pokémon Go. The spots marked as Pokestops and Gyms are confirmed by the Pokémon Go community. If you do not see any PokeStops or Gyms, click on PoGo Opt located at the bottom of the right sidebar and then click on load all PoGo portals.
Step 6: If you discover a new PokeStop or Gym, mark them to help the Pokémon Go community. You can do this by clicking on the Portal > clicking on the PokeStop or Gym icon.
