HTC has recently announced the HTC Desire 626, which is a pretty mid-ended phone. It was expected that the company might unveil this device at Mobile World Congress 2015 which takes place next month in Barcelona, but it happened earlier than many had guessed.

HTC Desire 626

The HTC Desire 626 does not stand so high in case of the other specs though, since it is targeted for budget users. It features a 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) TFT capacitive display, which has a pixel density of 294 ppi. The handset is sleek, having dimensions of 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.2 mm and it weighs just 140 grams. The phone will have two versions, with different chipsets and RAM, in which both will have 16 GB of internal memory with either 1 or 2 GB of RAM. Both devices will have the expandable storage option via microSD card upto 32 GB. For the processing power, there will be Mediatek MT6752 (with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU and Mali-T760MP2 GPU), or Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (with Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 306 GPU) chipset, depending on the versions and the place of their availability. For the photography and videography options, this smartphone will have a 13 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED Flash which can capture videos upto 1080p @ 30 fps, and a 5 MP secondary camera for video calls and selfies. The juice will be provided by a Non-removable Li-ion 2000 mAh battery, which will give the talktime of up to 30 hours on 3G. For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi. The phone will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system with HTC’s Sense UI over it, and we can’t say anything about the future updates. The phone will be available in various color options.

While the battery doesn’t seem to be powerful enough, the talktime as claimed by the manufacturer is great. Following the trend, the Snapdragon version is obviously the one which will have higher RAM. The HTC Desire 626 will cost about $189 in Taiwan (unlocked), and we expect Sprint and other US carriers to sell it for a similar price. The smartphone can be taken a Moto G competitor, as it offers relatively similar specs at about the same price
