There have been reports from users having WiFi related issues on their Samsung Galaxy S10. Most of them said the problem started right after they updated their phone to Android 10. Finding the main culprit here is a long shot. So, it is best if you perform all the troubleshooting steps until the issue is eliminated.
Force Restart: It is always a wise decision to perform a restart if you come across any issue. A reboot can clear the bug that might be causing the WiFi to not work properly on your Galaxy S10. However, a normal restart might not be enough sometime. In that case, you can perform a forced restart. A forced restart is similar to removing the battery and putting it back again.
To do a forced restart;
- Press and hold the Volume Down button and Power button.
- Hold both buttons until you see the Samsung Logo.
- Try reconnecting to WiFi after reboot.
Check Router: The phone you are blaming might not have anything to do this the WiFi issue you’re facing. It might be the router you are trying to connect to. If the router you are trying to connect to is your own, you can reboot it and see if the problem is gone. You can even reset it. If you have any other know WiFi network with range, check if you can connect to it.
Wipe Cache: If none of the above solutions worked, you can wipe the system cache partition to try and fix the issue. Wiping the system cache will remove old and possibly corrupted cache. Upon reboot, the system will generate new and fresh cache.
To wipe cache partition;
- Turn the phone off.
- Press and hold the Volume Up button, Bixby button and then Power button till you see a green Android logo.
- After a couple of seconds, you will get into the recovery mode. Once inside, use the volume buttons to navigate and the Power buttons to select.
- Highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and then press the Power button.
- Wipe cache and the select ‘Reboot system now’.
- Check if the WiFi is working correctly.
Factory Reset: If nothing seems to work, it is best if you factory reset your Galaxy S10. If the problem started after you updated your phone to Android 10, the chances are that the installation was faulty. Resetting your phone to factory settings and updating it again should fix the issue.
To factory reset;
- Turn off the phone.
- Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Bixby button. Without letting go of the two buttons, press and hold the Power button till you see a green Android logo.
- After a couple of seconds, you ill get into the Recovery mode. Use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select.
- Highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’ and then press the power button.
- Highlight ‘Yes’ and then press the power button again.
- After the reset is complete, select ‘Reboot system now’.
