Missing notifications is MIUI based phones’ longest-running issue. This is because MUI offers a large and varied way to customize how notifications are viewed. Also, MIUI’s aggressive memory management is what you need to thank for annoying you with this issue. Fortunately, there is a workaround. Here’s how to fix notifications not showing on Redmi Note 8.
Fix Notifications not showing on Redmi Note 8
With a few steps, you can get around MIUI’s memory management and select the apps that are not sending push notifications to auto start. Here’s how to do that.
Step 1: Go to Settings by tapping on its icon on the apps drawer or by tapping on the gear icon on the notification panel.
Step 2: Scroll down and find Apps sub-menu.
Step 3: Tap on Permissions.
Step 4: Tap on Autostart.
Step 5: Find the apps that are not sending push notifications.
Step 6: Tap on the toggle next to the apps to make sure they always run in the background.
There is a chance that you might not find the app or apps you are looking for on the list. Even if the app is on the list and you correctly follow the above steps and yet you still don’t see the notifications, you need to make sure the app is not restricted by the memory management. To do so,
Step 1: Open System Settings app from the app drawer or by tapping on the gear icon on the notification panel.
Step 2: Scroll down till you see the System & Device sub-menu.
Step 3: Tap on Battery & performance.
Step 4: Tap on Choose apps and then select the apps that are not showing notifications.
Step 5: Select No Restrictions on the next screen. This will prevent MIUI’s memory management from stopping the app that is running in the background.
If you followed this troubleshooting guide correctly, then you will have no problem with the notification not showing on your Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 pro. This guide should work on most of the MIUI 10 based phones like Redmi K20 Pro. You can also try the following steps if you cannot see the icons of incoming notifications.
Step 1: Open Settings.
Step 2: Tap on Display.
Step 3: Select Notch & status bar.
Step 4: Find the Status bar section and tap on the toggle next to ‘Show icons for incoming notifications’.
