Power Off and Retry

The first thing you should do is turn the phone off, remove the SD card tray and re-insert the card. This should fix the detection error most of the time. Reboot the phone normally and see if the card is detected and working properly. If the detection issue still persists, move on to the next step.

Reformat Card

Sometimes, if the MicroSD card is not formatted properly, the phone doesn’t detect it. You can check this from the phone itself.

Insert the card into the phone and follow the steps below;

Step 1: Go to Settings.

Step 2: Open the Device Care menu.

Step 3: Tap on the Storage icon.

Step 4: Tap on the 3-dot menu icon and then tap on Storage Settings.

Step 5: Select the SD card option.

Step 6: Tap on Format. Confirm.

Step 7: After the format is complete, reboot the device and see if the card works.

Reset App Preferences

The reason behind this issue can sometimes be some app that has changed some settings. This can be fixed by resetting app preferences. This will not delete any data on your phone; it’ll just reset the settings that as changed by any app.

To reset app preferences on Galaxy Note 10 Plus;

Step 1: Open Settings.

Step 2: Tap on Apps.

Step 3: Tap on 3-dot menu icon. Select ‘reset app preferences’.

Reset Cache Partition

To clear the system cache partition, you need to get into Recovery Mode. Clearing cache partition will delete data stored by each application since you started using it.

To clear cache partition on Galaxy Note 10 Plus;

Step 1: Shutdown the phone.

Step 2: Press and hold the Volume Up and Bixby buttons and then press and hold the Power button.

Step 3: Let go of the button after the screen turns blue.

Step 4: Select ‘wipe cache partition’ and confirm the process.

Step 5: Reboot.

You can also perform additional steps if none of the above steps worked;

  1. Factory Reset (from Recovery mode)
  2. Update firmware if available.
