- Restart Device: A simple restart can fix most of the common issues you face on any Android device including the Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Just press the power button and hit restart. once the device is booted, open the camera again and see if it worked.
- Check for Updates: If this error is firmware-based, then the manufacturer might have rolled out an update to tackle this error. Check for updates. If the update is available, download and install it asap. Check if the error is gone after the update.
- Safe Mode: The best way to determine if a 3rd party app is the reason for this error is to boot into safe mode and open the camera app. If the camera works as intended then an app is causing the issue. Uninstall any app you installed prior to this error. You need to press and hold the power button to boot into safe mode on Samsung Galaxy Devices.
- Clear Cache: Sometimes a faulty cache file might be the culprit. In this case, you need to clear the camera app’s cache. To do so, go to Settings > Apps > find Camera > clear cache.
- Disable Smart Stay: The Smart Stay feature on Samsung Galaxy devices uses the front camera to sense when you’re looking at the screen and prevent it from turning off regardless of the screen timeout. Although this is a long shot, disabling this feature might fix the camera failed error.
- Factory Reset: Do this only when none of the above solutions work. Doing a factory reset will wipe out everything on your Samsung Galaxy phones. It might also wipe out the issue causing the error.
If none of the solutions work, then the only option left is to take it to a Samsung service center. If your device is under warranty, then consider replacing the device.
