According to the latest smartphone shipment statistics from Canalys , over 238 million smartphones were shipped in Q2 2013 which is 50% more than last year’s 158.3 million. China is the largest smartphone market in the world with almost 37%of global shipment and the top five Chinese vendors, Lenovo, Yulong, Huawei, ZTE and Xiaomi made up 20% of total market. The US is the second biggest market with 14% of total smartphone shipment. India emerged as the third biggest market with 9 million smartphone shipments. India is also the fastest growing smartphone market with 129% year on year growth.
190 million or 80% of smartphones in Q2 are powered by Android OS. On the other hand iOS share fell to 13%. Among smartphone vendors, Samsung is on top with 48.9 million smartphone shipped. Apple comes in second place with 26 million smartphones. Lenovo, Yulong and LG come in third, fourth and fifth places respectively.
