When Android 10 was first released, the gestures were quite a controversy. It was a huge change from its predecessor, and that made people uncomfortable. The gesture for the ‘back button’ was difficult to activate, but Google added a sensitivity setting but that didn’t help much. Hopefully, the large and talented community of Android developers always have a solution. A developer created a solution that turns the gesture indicator into a button. You can even program it as the back button for navigating with ease. Here’s how to add back button on Android 10.
This guide was possible due to the developer Jawomo, who created the app that can turn the gesture indicator located at the bottom of the screen into a button. The app will allow you to pick an action for tapping or long-pressing the virtual button. This guide is for adding a ‘back button’, but you can any button you want to add. Let’s get started. Follow the steps below;
Step 1: Download gesturePlus – Gesture Navigation Tuner!
The app that lets you add a ‘button’ is called gesturePlus. The developer behind this app is the same that developed bxActions, the app that lets you remap buttons on your Android. gesturePlus is a free app and is available on the Google Play Store.
Step 2: Set up button
After the app is installed, open it and select Next. Tap on Launch actions and get redirected to the Accessibility menu. Select gesturePlus from the list and tap on the toggle located at the top of the screen to enable it. Tap on Allow. Get back to the app and tap on Done.
Step 3: Enjoy
Since the app is configured to make the button to act as the back button by default, we’re done. You can now tap on the ‘pill’ at the bottom of the screen to get to the previous page. If you want, you can add other actions to the button like launch the camera, dialer, launch an app or shortcut. You can also configure it to run tools like a flashlight or take a screenshot.
