After about six months from its launch in China, Xiaomi Mi4 is finally set to arrive in India. Xiaomi announced that it will be selling the device thorough India’s most popular online retailer Flipkart, as well as its own India-focused online store.
The version of Xiaomi Mi4 with the lowest specs is the one which is going to be sold in India, which is quite disappointing. According to Xiaomi itself, the model with 16 GB of internal memory (which does not even have any expandable storage option), and with no LTE connectivity will only be available. There are no color options either, only the white model will go for sale. The company has its Xiaomi Mi4 launched in India for Rs. 19,999 (approximately $320). It can be easily guessed that Xiaomi is trying to clear out the remaining stock of comparatively low-configured Mi4 devices by selling them in India.
The first sale is scheduled for February 10 (at 2 PM IST) through Flipkart, and according to Xiaomi India executive Manu Jain, 25,000 to 40,000 units will be allotted for the first run. As usual, the buyers will have to register previously, which will start at 6:00 PM IST, 28th January.
The key specs of the Xiaomi Mi4 include 5.0-inch 1920×1080 LCD display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB internal memory (non-expandable), 13 megapixel rear camera, 8 megapixel front camera, 3080mAh battery, MIUI 6 on top of Android 4.4 KitKat, and a sleek full-metal body. While the Mi3, its predecessor was priced only Rs. 14,999, the price of the Mi4 is quite high, if we compare the price-specs ratio of both devices. As it is already claimed to be overpriced by many of the Indian customers, we are yet to see if this phone continues the trend of other Xiaomi devices in India, i.e. being out of stock in a few seconds.
