Xiaomi has now launched its new flagship for the year 2014- the Xiaomi Mi4. It is a good phone indeed, but unlike the previous rumors, the specs are different. The phone does not lie in the phablet category, as it has a 5 inches display.
The phone has a 5 inches IPS LCD capacitive display of 1080 X 1920 pixels, giving a pixel density of 441 ppi. Since it has the capacitive buttons underneath the display, there is a little bezel size, and the phone gives a measurement of 39.2 x 68.5 x 8.9 mm which is OK. The phone weighs 149g, which cannot be considered to be light though. The phone will be available in two memory options- 16 GB and 64 GB, and there will be 3 GB RAM. For the processing power, there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8.1 chipset combined with Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU, and the graphics will be supported by the Adreno 330 GPU. For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB v2.0, USB OTG, WiFi, NFC and InfraRed. The Xiaomi Mi4 has a 13 MP primary camera with dual LED Flash, which can capture videos of upto 2160 p @ 30fps. For the selfies and video calls, there is a whooping 8 MP secondary camera, which will capture videos of upto 1080p @ 30fps. The juice for all these will be provided by a Non-removable Li-Ion 3080 mAh battery, which will give a standby time upto 280 hours in 3G, and its talktime is not yet specified. The other features will include FM Radio, Beidou, TV-out, and the smartphone will be available in Black and White color options. In the software part, the Xiaomi Mi4 will operate in Android 4.4.3 OS, with probably the MIUI over it.
The specifications are pretty decent, and it will also probably be a big hit if priced competitively like the Xiaomi Mi3. There are no words yet about the price and the availability yet. The phone is definitely going to be available first in China, and lets hope for it to be available in other Asian countries and rest parts of the world soon.
