While Apple is not strict on where you can use your AirPods, there is no built-in way to check their battery percentage on the platform other than Apple’s OSes. AirPods are designed to work flawlessly with Apple products. You do not need to even manually pair them with Apple products. While you need to manually pair I you want to use the AirPods with non-Apple products. So, even simple thing like checking the battery requires 3rd party app.

There are a couple of apps that help you accomplish this but are often filled with a lot of ads. Among those apps, I could find one that is truly the best among the rest.

Step 2:  Open the app. Grant every permission the app asks. You will need to allow the app to “display over other apps”, and “disable power savers” for the app. The app will guide you through this.

Step 3: Connect the AirPods to your Android.

Step 4: Open the app again and choose the AirPods model you paired with your Android.

Step 5: Now, open the AirPods case with AirPods inside. You will see the status of the battery on the popup that appears on your Android; just like on iOS.  If you don’t see the popup, try closing and opening the case again.

That’s it. You can use a lot of AirPods features on Android. You can use the active noise cancellation, transparency mode, track skip, etc. However, you cannot use Siri and Fit Test when connected to an Android.
