Sonim XP7- a tough Android smartphone with great battery

With the increasing popularity of rugged smartphones, newer devices with better features are being released. Sonim, one of the manufacturers of rugged smartphones, has recently launched the Sonim XP7, the toughest Android which has some really good features like LTE support and a boom battery size. Sonim XP7

It features a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) capacitive display, which has a pixel density of 233 ppi, and has Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The handset is not sleek at all, with dimensions 137 x 72.1 x 20.8 mm and weighs 290 grams, which is quite heavy. The phone will have 16 GB of internal memory, and does not have any expandable storage options. It has 1 GB RAM,  and for the processing power, there will be a Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 chipset complied with a Quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU. For the photography and videography options, this smartphone will have a 8 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED Flash which can capture videos upto 1080p @ 30 fps, and a 1 MP secondary camera for video calls and selfies. The juice will be provided by a Li-Ion 4800 mAh battery, which will give the talktime of 40 hours. For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and NFC. The phone will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, and we can’t say anything about the future updates. The phone will be available  in Black and Yellow color options.

While the phone is quite huge for a 4-inch display we can assume it is all because of the very huge battery. The Sonim XP7 is IP68 certified, which means it is dust proof and water resistant over 1 meter and 30 minutes. In addition to this, it is mud and sand proof too. It can work in temperatures ranging from -4° C to 131° C. It can be used with gloves too, and has Shock and impact resistance above military specs. The Sonim XP7 is however, priced $579, which can be considered to be cheap enough seeing its roughness, and it is most probably because the smartphone has compromised a lot in the specs. The phone will also come with a 3-year warranty, which will make you tension-free after buying.
