Kyocera DuraForce released: specs and details

If you are looking for a rugged smartphone with some mid-range specs, your search is probably ended. Kyocera has released a tough Android smartphone- Kyocera DuraForce, which is resistant to almost every type of things which are probable to cause damage to the phone.

The Kyocera DuraForce features a 4.5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) IPS LCD capacitive display, which has a pixel density of 326 ppi, and has Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The handset is not sleek at all, with dimensions 136.9 x 70.6 x 14 mm and weighs 200 grams, which is quite heavy. The phone will have 16 GB of internal memory, and will have the expandable storage option via microSD card upto 32 GB. It has 2 GB RAM,  and for the processing power, there will be a Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 chipset complied with a Quad-core 1.4 GHz CPU. For the photography and videography options, this smartphone will have a 8 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED Flash which can capture videos upto 1080p @ 30 fps, and a 2 MP secondary camera for video calls and selfies. The juice will be provided by a Non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery, which will give the talktime of 17 hours. For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and NFC. The phone will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, and we can’t say anything about the future updates. The phone will be available only in Black color.

The Kyocera DuraForce is IP68 certified, which makes it dust proof and water resistant over 1 meter and 30 minutes. Apart from this, it is also MIL-STD-810G certified,, which makes it salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant. The Kyocera DuraForce will have built-in Smart sonic receiver too. It can be used with gloves too, and has Shock and impact resistance above military specs. The phone is priced $400 off-contract, and can be purchased for $100 on-contract of At&T and US Cellular.
