Oppo N1 CyanogenMod Edition to be released before Christmas

N1CM

It was exciting news when we first learned that the Chinese high-end smartphone manufacturer Oppo was working alongside CyanogenMod- the renowned custom ROM developers’ team. With the CyanogeMod-Oppo collaboration, Oppo could get the latest OS such as CM 10.2 (Android 4.3) and also CM 11 (Android Kitkat 4.4) for its devices. In the latest development, CM officially announced yesterday that the Cyanogenmod Edition of Oppo N1 will be released on December 24th.

This was an awesome, and incredibly challenging project given the crazy timeline we were on. Myself and a bunch of other guys have not slept for over a month now. I’ll do a longer post about what all went into making this happen later.

This will be a limited-run device, so get in there and get yourself a CM N1 for Christmas 🙂

The Oppo N1 will ship with CyanogenMod 10.2 which is based on Android 4.3 builds. Hence, users of Oppo N1 CM edition can enjoy all the features of the Google Edition of Android 4.3 and more. Unlike previous stock OS Oppo smartphones, the N1 will have access to Google Play Store which means users can directly download apps from the store instead of side loading them and  it will most likely receive a CM 11 (Android 4.4) update in the near future.

The hardware features of Oppo N1 are also commendable. The N1 features a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2 GB RAM and a huge 5.9 inch 1080p HD LCD display. Another notable feature is its 13MP rear camera which can rotate upto 206 degrees so that you can easily take high quality self-shots.  Here is the full specification of Oppo N1:
