OnePlus One launches in India for Rs. 21,999

For all the users in India who were so desperately waiting for the launch of widely appreciated OnePlus One, there is a reason to be happy. OnePlus has officially launched its One smartphone in India, which will be exclusively available to buy from Amazon India site. OnePlus had held a press event in New Delhi, for the launch of the smartphone. OnePlus One launches in India

In India, only the 64 GB version will be available, with a ridiculously low price (as compared with the other flagships having similar range of specs) of Rs. 21,999. This approximately becomes $355, which is somewhat higher than the International price offered, but still very close and cheaper than the one predicted (around Rs 24,999) before launch. Only 20,000 units will be sold in the first phase, and more are to arrive soon.

You will however, need an invite to buy the phone from Amazon, and you may be familiar with this already, if you are an OnePlus One fan. The invites need to be India-specific, the global specific invites won’t help you to ship their products to India. You can subscribe to the OnePlus newsletter to participate for the invite, since the company is sending invites to buy the smartphone tomorrow. There is a also an important point to note that the phone should be purchased within 48 hours after you get the invite, otherwise it will expire itself. When you purchase an unit, you will get an extra invite, which can be used to share with your family, or friends, or anyone.

In India, the OnePlus One will be shipped with Cyanogen 11s, but it will not get any updates of the same, since the partnership between Micromax and Cyanogen Inc. prevents that. However, the company has said that in the near future, there will be their own beta version ROM, based on Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Indian users, which will replace the CyanogenMod 11s.

Now, since the OnePlus One launches in India, OnePlus has also said that it has plan to open an office, and 25 service centers across India, for the convenient of the users. By then, the globally purchased units will also be able to claim their warranty in India.
