Though the Moto G 2014 was the first device to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the US, the case is somewhat different in India. Motorola India is providing the update for the earlier model- Moto G XT1033. The Google Play Services recently got updated, which showed the sign for the Moto G 2013 is getting Lollipop update in India, but it has been made official now.
After the initial soak test test of the update, the users have now started being notified by the update, which has the 220.21.16.en.03 software version. The update now makes this big hit budget Android smartphone of 2013 one of the first devices to get it in India, only left behind by the Nexus devices.
Steps to update your Moto G 2013 to Android 5.0 Lollipop:
If you have been notified already:
- Tap in the notification which you have received.
- Thereafter, select “Yes, I’m in”.
- The update will now start downloading.
- After the software is downloaded, select “Install now”.
- Your phone will now re-start automatically after the installation of the 220.21.16 update finishes.
If you haven’t yet got the notification:
- Select the Settings icon in the apps menu, and go to About phone from there.
- Check for “System updates” there.
- After you get the file download link, select “Yes, I’m in”.
- Your update software will start downloading.
- After the software is downloaded, select “Install now”.
- Your phone will now re-start automatically after the installation of the 220.21.16 update finishes.
You should also note that you will not be able to downgrade the version, once you update your Moto G 2013 to Android 5.0 Lollipop. We don’t know about the update for 2014 edition Moto G yet, buy is expected soon enough. We will update with any information available.
