How to Use Screen Pinning in Android Pie

Screen pinning has been around on Android for a while but it is still fairly unused, despite it being a really useful tool. What it does is it limits the access to just one app. This is useful when you need to lend your phone to other people. The functionality is basically the same as previous versions of Android, but the new multitasking UI changes it a little bit. Here’s how to use screen pinning in Android Pie.

Follow the steps below;

Step 1: Go to System Settings.

Step 2: Tap on Security & location.

Step 3: Find Advanced and tap on it. You can find it at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4: At the very bottom, you will find Screen pinning.

Step 5: Enable the toggle and you are good to go.

After you enable the option, you will find a new toggle. This will let you control where the users can go after they try to unpin the app. If you do not enable this option, the user can simply unpin the app and continue using your device. if you enable this option. Any attempt to unpin the app will take the user back to the lock screen.

Pinning an app is simple too. All you have to do is tap the recent app button and find the app you want to pin. Then, tap on the icon at the top of the app. This will show you a menu with the option for pinning. Tap on it and you will see a message notifying the screen is pinned. To unpin the app, you have to hold back button and home button together. This will unpin the app and take you to the lock screen.

With this feature, you no longer have to worry about people going through your phone when they do not need to. You can safely lend your device when people ask.
