How to Factory Reset your Android Device

Without any doubt, Android Devices are the most popular devices among any other devices in the world. The numbers of the Android user are increasing in great number day by day. With increase in the Android device and the users, there comes many issue related to the devices also. If you have forgotten password of the device or changed some of the settings which went wrong or even some error/lagging in the device due to any reason? Now you don’t have to worry. Factory Resetting your Android smartphone  can easily solve the problem. You can Factory Reset your Android Device in two ways, either using Setting menu or using Recovery mode.

What’s Factory Reset?

Factory Reset, also called master reset. Basically what it does is wipes out everything on your phone and reverts back to the factory defaults like the way it was the day you got your phone. This helps ensure any software problems you might be having unresolved and also helps determine whether or not the issues are having on hardware or software. Factory Reset erase all installed application, account and their password, software and other data that is stored in the internal (phone) memory. Also keep in mind that performing Factory Reset won’t affect anything on the SD card.

Note: I recommend you to backup your Android Data before factory reset.

Methods to Factory Reset your Android Device

Method 1: Factory Reset your Device (Using Setting Menu)

This is the first method to Factory Reset your Android Phone. This method is used only if you have access to your phone (i.e Your phone is not locked).  Follow the given steps to Factory Reset your Device (Using Setting Menu).

• Go to Setting >> Scroll down and select Backup & reset option
• Once you click Backup & reset >> Other option will appear
• Click on Factory Data reset
• Read the information on the screen and touch Reset device.
• If you have a screen lock, you’ll need to enter your pin, password or pattern.
• Now you’ll see Erase everything option. Click on it.

Your phone system will be as if you have just brought it because all the setting and stuff like that you need to set again.

Method 2: Factory Reset your Device (In Recovery Mode)

Key Note: If you have device that is running on Android 5.1 or higher. You will need to enter a previous/ old (if any) Google username and password associated with the device just after factory reset. If you don’t have the information, you won’t be able to complete setup process and use the device at all after factory reset.

Other thing to remember :

• Make sure you have an Internet connection
• If you have recently reset Your Google account password then wait 24 hours

This is the second method to Factory Reset your Android Phone. This method can be used even if you don’t have access to your phone (i.e Your phone is locked).  Follow the given steps to Factory Reset your Device (In Recovery Mode)

• Samsung Galaxy S6: Volume Up + Home + Power
• Nexus 7: Volume Up + Volume Down + Power
• Motorola Droid X: Home + Power
• Devices With Camera Buttons: Volume Up + Camera

• First turn off the phone
• Press and hold volume up button, power button and home button together until the device turns on.
• After that Recovery Mode will appear with many options >> use volume up and down to control the screen and power button to select the option.
• Select wipe data/factory reset >> press power button
• Again select “yes-delete all user data” option and press ok (it will then start resetting the phone).
• A message will appear after the completion >> Select reboot system now and it will start rebooting your device.
