How to detect and avoid a clone Android device?

All of us love our Android devices. Well, among all the Android devices out there, having the branded ones, like Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, Sony Xperia Z4 and many others is awesome. These phones have a lot of features added to the original Android OS, and make us cool too. Year by year, when we change our smart Android devices, we spend a lot of our hard-earned money. However, impressed by these feature packed flagship and other high-ended branded Android smartphones, a lot of clone phones are out in the market.

What is a clone Android device?

A clone Android device, as the name suggests, is a device which looks exactly like the original one. It is also known as ripped-off version, or replica depending on places. Generally, until we are pro for the Android device, we cannot separate the clones from the original. Since they have the same Operating system, it is even hard to recognize. They are a lot cheaper than the original ones, as they have much less features. Usually, the people who can’t buy the high-end devices but like to own them buy the clone ones, and calm their mind.

Every year, a lot of consumers are tricked with the clone Android device, while they are trying to buy the high-end branded ones. If we are aware enough, and are capable to separate the original Android devices from the clone ones, we won’t have to suffer from the thugs. So, for this, you will need to know some tricks.

Here is how to detect and avoid a clone Android device:

  • Some of the clone devices have cheap build qualities. Such as, there can be the capacitive middle button on the Samsung ripped devices instead of the physical ones, which will make us recognize easily. Along with this, there are myriad of ways to tell if a device is fake, and though the telltale signs differ depending on the smartphone in question, there are a few general tips that can end up saving you a lot of heartache. For example, almost without exception, fakes/clones arrive with an LED flash lamp that is significantly yellower and weirder-looking compared to the real thing. Other, common discrepancies concern the thickness of the device, the size and location of the various ornaments and elements (speaker grill holes, audio jack placement, etc), and, especially – the resolution of the screen. If you just ordered a phone with a 1080 x 1920 resolution or higher, and yet the thing you’re looking at seems blurry, it’s almost certainly a fake you’re handling. That’s because a high-quality display panel is easily among the most expensive parts of your smartphone.
  • There are clone Android devices in the market, which are so real. In this case, the trick given above may not work. For this, you have an application known as AnTuTu Officer. This proprietary application takes a look under the skin of the device being tested and reports the result using another browser. In order to use it, first you must install the application from the Google Play Store. Once you have it installed and running on your device, it directs you to the other web browser where you must navigate to y.antutu.com. Here, the website will provide you with a code and a QR image, whilst launching the camera application on the device to be tested. You can either tap in the code or scan the image. Once you’ve done this, it’ll take a few seconds for the AnTuTu Officer service to verify if your device is the real deal or if it’s a copy. I’ve tried this twice on my Moto G 2014 and the second time it came back as an unknown device, but the first it was the genuine item.

Using these methods, you can recognize a clone Android device, and avoid buying it.
