Samsung’s Galaxy S10 has a huge screen with a cutout for the front camera on the top-right corner. Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has an even bigger cutout. Although some people find it annoying to have a hole that’ll interfere with the full-screen experience, most of the people have accepted it and started to get creative with it using wallpapers. You can even hide it, but this will eat a portion of the top of the screen. But instead of hiding it, how about you customized it? This may sound insane but hear me out. There is an app on the Google Play Store that will add a battery indicator around the punch hole. Here’s how to add battery indicator around camera cutout in Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus.

The app we will be talking about and going to use is the Energy Ring app developed by recognized XDA developer jagan2. Energy Ring
You can customize the ring and change its color, animations and more. And you do not need to worry about it consuming a lot of juice. The developer has clearly stated that it is extremely battery friendly. The developer states, “Energy Ring sits on the screen silently putting almost 0% load on CPU, if battery level changes, Android wakes up Energy Ring. Once awake, Energy Ring quickly updates itself and goes back to sleep. And to be that extra efficient, the Ring goes on deep sleep when you turn off the screen, meaning it doesn’t even read changes in battery level when the screen is off”.
Step 1: Install Energy Ring app
Energy Ring is free to download on the Google Play Store. Either search for Energy Ring on the Google Play Store app or follow the link to its Google Play Store page. I’ve included the screenshot of what the app’s Google Play Store page looks like to diminish any confusions.
Step 2: Configure Energy Ring
The app will only take seconds to install. After you open the app, will be introduced to the app. When prompted, grant all the necessary permissions to let the app run properly. After that, the ring will automatically appear around the camera’s cutout. Now, let’s customize it.
Step 3: Customize
You can stop at Step 2, but for a more personalized experience, I recommend you customize it. You can adjust the thickness of the ring by using the bar under Ring Thickness. You can tell it to hide when on fullscreen apps. There is an option to change the animation and adjust colors.
The direction of the ring can be changed between clockwise and anti-clockwise. There are more configurations to play with, and they are easy to understand so you don’t have to worry about messing things up.
