Xiaomi offers its users a hidden feature called the Engineering Mode. This hidden feature once enabled, will offer the user with functions that let them control maximum loudness of speakers, perform tests and much more. However, these features are hidden for a reason. If the user is not careful enough, these settings could cause serious damage to the device. If you know what you are doing and know what each of the settings does, you can enable this mode. Here’s how to enable Engineering Mode on Xiaomi devices.
Enable Engineering Mode on Xiaomi
Engineering Mode has tons of nifty features that let you perform tests and such. If you have a problem recording videos, sound, taking pictures, or any other hardware related issues, you can perform hardware tests using Engineering mode. You can use this mode to perform tests to know more about a certain issue before going to the service centre.
Method 1: Using Codes
You can get into engineering mode by typing any of the following codes in the dialer;
- *#*#6484#*#*
- *#*#3646633#*#*
- *#*#4636#*#*
All of the codes do the same thing – enable Engineer Mode. If one doesn’t work on your device, use another.
Method 2: Using Settings
If for some reason, the above codes do not work on your device, don’t worry. You can still get into engineering mode from system settings. Follow the steps below;
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Scroll down and find My Device. Tap on it.
Step 3: Select All Specs.
Step 4: Scroll down till you find Kernel Version. You need to tap on it 7 times. You will get a pop-up on 6th tap saying “You are 1 step away from entering CIT”. On the 7th tap, you will enter the engineering mode.
