Apple confirms that these MacBook Pros’ are the thinnest and lightest MacBook Pro ever.  It is available in two colors Silver and Space Gray. The new MacBook Pro achieved a design that optimized both performance and portability. If we see these MacBook Pro carefully then we can see the whole new re-design of the notebook. Whether it is design, display, keyboard, trackpad, speakers, charging ports or any other parts of MacBook Pro.macbook pro

Design of MacBook Pro

New MacBook Pro has all side metal design. The new design of product’s overall volume has been reduced dramatically. This result is an extremely purposeful and powerful creative tool. Now if we see the placement of charging ports, headphone jack then we will find the headphone jack is placed on the right side of the keyboard along with two thunderbolts that uses USB – C. If we see the right side of the keyboard there are another two thunderbolts. The trackpad is situated at center just below the keyboard.

Display of MacBook Pro

The display of MacBook Pro is the best that Apple has ever made.  It has the brightest, most colorful display. It has the best Retina display with IPS technology and precisely designed LED spectrum projects through a metal oxide backplane. This yields a remarkably bright, high-contrast picture with a wider color gamut. It is 67% brighter, 67% higher contrast ratio, 25% more colors than previous versions of MacBook Pro. And it’s the first Mac notebook to support wide color, for even more vibrant greens and reds.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro has 2880 by 1800 native resolution at 220 pixels per inch with support for millions of colors and 13-inch MacBook Pro has 2560 by 1600 native resolution at 227 pixels per inch with support for millions of colors. MacBook Pro now features P3 color, which makes 25 percent more colors available than standard RGB. It has now 500 nits of brightness.

Comparing the two Macbook Pro

Now if you compare the previous MacBook Pro version then you can clearly see the differences. Previous 15-inch MacBook Pro version was 18.0mm in thickness while new MacBook Pro is just 15.5mm in thickness. The new MacBook Pro version is 4 pounds which is almost a half a pound less than previous version.  Now the apple claims that we will be seeing 130% increase in 3D Graphics, 60% in Gaming and 57% in Video Editing.Previous 13-inch MacBook Pro version was 18.0mm in thickness while new MacBook Pro is just 14.9mm in thickness which is 12% thinner than previous version. The new MacBook Pro version is 3 pounds which is almost a half a pound less also which is 13% less volume than previous version. Now the apple claims that we will be seeing 103% increase in Gaming, 76% in Video Editing 76% in 3D Graphics.

Processor and performance of MacBook Pro

Apple says these MacBook Pros’ are the most powerful MacBook Pro ever. The 15-inch version has a 2.6 GHz quad-core, 6th generation Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.5 GHz with 6MB shared L3 cache. It has 16GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory and 256GB of flash storage. It uses Radeon Pro 450 with 2GB of memory with Intel HD Graphics 530

The 13-inch version with touch bar has a 2.9 GHz dual-core, Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz with 4MB shared L3 cache. It has 8GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory and 256GB of flash storage. It has Intel Iris Graphics 550.

It uses MacOS as the operating system. The new GPU uses Polaris architecture which has 4GB VRAM (Video RAM) which is 2.3 times faster and uses 14nm (nanometer architecture). It has now up to 30% faster graphic. As its core processors, integrated with high-speed system memory and storage technologies, make everything you do faster and more responsive.

SSDs are now faster and available in 2 terabyte configurations and apple has to design a new thermal architecture in order to cool the system. In a notebook this powerful thermal management is critical, thinner, variably spaced fan blades propel air quietly through a nearly solid structure.

Keyboard and trackpad of MacBook Pro

The keyboard is all new as well. They have continued to refine the keyboard design to be more accurate and efficient. It uses the butterfly switch mechanism that Apple pioneered in 12-inch MacBook but now they have applied it to a professional notebook and in this case is a new mechanism 2nd (second) generation butterfly. Dome switch is beneath each key have been optimized for a more responsive feel. It is more responsive and gives an ever greater sense of keyboard travel as we press on it. It is great keyboard.

This time the trackpad is absolutely massive. It is now 2X (two times) bigger than previous models. It is now force touch, it doesn’t move.It just have taptic engine refit. The larger Force Touch trackpad now provides an expansive area for a whole range of gesture.

Touch Bar

The area just above the keyboard is touch bar usually where function keys used to exist. A slim strip of an OLED  display that sits above the keyboard. It is just 60 pixels high but it’s a tool that has the almost all ability that today world need. It is multi-touch, it response to gesture and your taps makes things incredibly easy to use.The most interesting thing about the touch bar is that, depending on the which application you have opened, you will have different function. Touch bar can be very useful for system controls like volume and brightness, interactive ways to adjust or browse through content, intelligent typing features like emoji and predictive text and more.We can also get lots of custom control especially in Photoshop. This is also a first Mac with Touch ID that is 2nd generation so it is going to be fast. This seamless integration of hardware and software is truly unique to Apple. A multi-touch bar provides a more intuitive, more immediate connection to the content. Command that were once hidden are now visible, easily accessible and also customizable. In each application the most relevant controls are displayed dynamically, allowing us to work with greater efficiency.

Speakers of MacBook Pro

The speakers have also been completely redesigned to maximize air displacement and project high-fidelity room-filling sound which is better than before and apple even says that these are even better with 2X (two times) the dynamic range. It has now 58% more volume than previous models with two and a half times louder bass for maximum boom. The interesting thing is that they are connected directly to system power, enabling up to three times more peak power.

It has got the fastest, most versatile I/O (Input/ Output) ever built into a MacBook Pro. Both the 13 and 15 inch have four Thunderbolt 3 ports that was an incredible 40 GB/s bandwidth that also supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 and of course display port 1.2 and thunderbolt 3 uses USB-C style connector that means anyone of the four ports can be used as charging ports. Left side, right side as your convenient but it is so much more versatile than that. Each one of the port can power, can be thunderbolt, can be used as USB, as display-port, video out with VGA or HDMI. So we can say that it has lots more to offer just in a single port. The battery power is also great. It is said that the notebook last for 10 hours.

Many people may be disappointed with some of the things that are replaced. Like, the apple logo doesn’t glow anymore but it is super shiny now and also Magsafe is gone now.

The new MacBooks Pro 13-inch with touch bar starts at $1799 and MacBooks Pro 15-inch start at $2399. Overall the new MacBooks Pro is a complete package and it is good option to go for. It’s faster and more powerful than before, yet remarkably thinner and lighter. So, I think this notebook will surely make a space in our table and on market. What do you think about these MacBooks Pros’. Let me know your thought.
