With the growing technological advancement, it’s natural for educational apps to take over textbooks, notes and papers. However, there are tons of educational apps to choose from. Often one may choose random apps and later find it useless. Although some apps are tailored for specific purposes, here are few of our favorite apps that you can try out.
#1. Coursera
Founded in 2012 by Standford Professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Kohler, Coursera offers a variety of online courses, specializations, and degrees in biology, business, computer science, data science, digital marketing, engineering, humanities, medicine, social sciences, etc. As of October 2017, Coursera had more than 28 million registered users and more than 2,000 courses.
The courses offered consist of video lectures, tutorials, quizzes, weekly exercises, peer-graded assignments and in some cases a final project. In its early years, Coursera was free. But now you have to pay in order to gain access to the peer graded assignments and certificates while the videos and learning materials are still free of cost.
#2. Khan Academy
Khan Academy is one of the useful educational apps. With over 10,000 instructional videos, classes, and other content, Khan Academy deals with more typical education, such as mathematics, economics, history, science, and more. It’s especially good for people who need to brush up onthe more basic stuff before tackling more complex topics. It’s definitely one of the better free education apps. 
Khan Academy offers “nano-degree programs” in collaboration with companies like Google, GitHub, Facebook, Amazon, etc.
#3. Udacity
Udacity is another popular app that helps you explore various subjects in depth. The courses offered are generally not free but it is compensated by the fact that they are of higher standard than the rest of the free online educational platforms. Udacity offers world-class content for study and is more suitable for serious learners.
#4. Udemy
Udemy has a huge and diverse collection of online courses which are mostly free. What makes it different than the other educational apps is that it enables professionals to sell their expertise through courses. So, users can either learn or teach through Udemy. Udemy courses tend to be so short that they feel more like tutorials. However they do provide a complimentary certificate of completion.
#5. Lynda
Lynda is considered as one of the best online learning platforms. It is very effective for learning technical skills like photography and coding. It has a vast library of 3000 courses. Lynda is an exceptional app that provides video based online learning. With an attractive price range, the courses offered are high quality and detailed. As part of LinkedIn, Lynda added “Learning Paths” to help professionals gain new skills. Learning paths lay out the courses needed to master specific skills. It also shows users aggregate information about people who have taken the course — their job titles and other skills.
