We were already aware of the fact that OnePlus had been developing its own ROM, ever since the support for CyanogenMod in OnePlus One was prohibited in India. After a while, the company officially released the Alpha version of the developed ROM, targeted especially for Indian users. Now, after almost a month of its release, the ROM developed by OnePlus gets baptized as ‘OxygenOS’.

OxygenOS

OnePlus has revealed that the OxygenOS is going to be unveiled on February 12th. There is another surprise by the company- the ROM will be available in China too, and there, it will be called ‘H2OS’. You don’t need to be confused much though as the OxygenOS and HydrogenOS are two different versions, with OnePlus’s custom build.

OnePlus explains the reason behind such a name of its ROM as:

As an element, Oxygen is the epitome of simplicity, yet it’s also extraordinarily powerful.
Oxygen is all around us. It’s part of us and everything we do. It creates the water that carves out valleys and moves mountains. By itself, it’s simple and pure—a fundamental building block. But, as a part of something greater, it can do amazing things. Just like us.

This means, the Oxygen is equally important for the life of the beastly OnePlus One smartphone, as the Oxygen is for the living beings. As claimed by OnePlus, the OxygenOS will be open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features, hence the users are likely to enjoy the goodness same as that of Stock Android. Though we don’t have any official words on it, the new ROM will probably be the 5.0.2 Lollipop based, which will replace the existing CM11s in OnePlus One. More details about the OS will be out only at the moment of its unveil, so, this means the countdown begins. We will update about any further information available.
