Google recently launched a digital payment app in India. Tez, which translates to “fast” in Hindi, offers a way to send and receive money. This isn’t a new concept or a one-of-a-kind app, but there sth that makes Tez stand out from the competition. If you haven’t started using Tez already, this will get you started. Here’s how to use Google Tez.
How to use Google Tez
Step 1: Download Google Tez form the Google Play Store.
Step 2: After it gets installed, open the app. You’ll be asked to select a language. Tez supports some additional languages besides its default, like Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. Select your preferred language.
Step 3: Now, you will need to enter your phone number. Make sure that the phone number you enter is the one that’s linked to the bank account you intend to use.
Step 4: When asked, allow the permission to send and view SMS for authentication. You’ll also be asked to allow permission to access contact list so that it’ll be easier for you to send and receive money from the people in your contacts.
Step 5: Select the Google account you want to link to the app.
Step 6: Your phone number will now be verified. If you don’t receive any text, make sure you have properly done Step 4.
Step 7: Now, you need to set up security. You can the fingerprint scanner, screen lock, or set up a Google PIN.
Adding a bank account
You can add a bank account by tapping on “Add bank account”. You can select from the list of 60 banks. When you find and select your bank, a text will be sent to the number that is linked to that account to verify. This is why you need to make sure you’ve correctly done Step 4. Now, if you have a UPI ID, you’ll just need to enter you UPI PIN. If you don’t have a UPI ID, it’s easy to set up using the app. Now, you need to add your debit card details and then select a 4 digit code for you UPI PIN. That’s it. Tez is set up and ready to be used.
