Personal Assistants make our life convenient but at a cost. Users are worried about privacy concerns. They are worried that the companies are recording everything you say to these assistants. Once such popular assistant is Google Assistant. There is a way you can stop Google from listening to you when you say the wake word “Ok, Google”. You can also stop Google from accessing your device’s microphone completely. You can follow the steps below. Here’s how to stop Google from listening to Android.
Stop Google from Listening to Android for Ok Google
If you want to turn off Ok Google detection;
Step 1: Go to Settings and tap on Google.
Step 2: Tap on Search under Services tab.
Step 3: Select Voice.
Step 4: Find and select the option called Voice Match or Ok Google detection, depending on your device.
Step 5: Turn off Say “OK Google” any time toggle. You can also disable While driving to disable OK Google for Google Maps and Android Auto.
If you want to pause voice history across your account;
Step 1: Go to Google’s Activity Controls Page and log into your account when prompted.
Step 2: Scroll till you find Voice & Audio Activity.
Step 3: Turn it off. This will stop linking your recordings to your account.
If you want to block Google from using microphone completely;
Step 1: Go to Settings and then tap on Apps & Notifications or just Apps depending on your device.
Step 2: Choose to display all installed apps.
Step 3: Scroll and find Google app and then tap on it.
Step 4: Tap on Permissions.
Step 5: Disable Microphone to revoke its permissions to access it.
This is it. You don’t have to worry about Google recording all the conversations that you do with your voice assistant, to some extent of course.
