Samsung Galaxy S5 Active for AT&T out now

Samsung has announced the revised and rugged version of its flagship- Galaxy S5, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. The phone is a toughly built smartphone, with some additions and some removal of features from the mainstream Galaxy S5.

Galaxy S5 Active

Though the S5 was already dust and water resistant (IP 67 certified), the Galaxy S5 Active contains these features, along with the MIL-STD-810G certification, which makes it  salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant. The three features are true appreciable, since it can now handle a lot of rough usage you try with it, and it won’t matter anymore wherever you take your phone. You can use this phone in almost every situations- while in construction work/ in rain/ in anything- anywhere you want to. Unlike the mainstream S5, the phone will feature the three physical buttons beneath the screen, and will not have the fingerprint scan facility. Certainly the features are skipped, but it has fewer compromises than the Galaxy S4 Active. The phone does not have a metal unibody design, but has a special casing, that looks quite unpleasing, but it is just to make the phone handle more shocks and dust. The phone will only be available in 16 GB internal memory, despite the S5’s availability options of 16/32 GB internal memory.

For those who have forgotten the specs of the Gaaxy S5, it has Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU powered by Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset and Adreno 330 GPU, 5.1 inch Full-HD Super AMOLED Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 16 MP primary camera upto video recording of 2160p @ 30fps, Li-Ion 2800 mAh battery, LTE support, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. The Galaxy S5 Active will be available in Camo Green, Titanium Grey and Ruby Red, colour options.

For the price point,t he 16GB Galaxy S5 Active costs $199 with new two-year contracts, or $0 down with no contracts followed by 18 monthly installments of $27.50 (AT&T Next 18) or 12 monthly payments of $35.75 (AT&T Next 12). Nothing is said till now about it’s international availability though.
