Ever tried to open an external link while on Facebook app? Whenever you click a link, the site is loaded on Facebook’s own in-app web browser. The browser load pages fast but you may not want to use it for various reason. You cannot open multiple tabs on it, or go back to Facebook without losing the place or any info you have filled. You may also accidentally close the web site. If you want to do anything other than basic browsing, you will have to tap on the menu an select “Open in Chrome”. As useful as the in-app browser may be, most of the time it gets annoying and counter-productive. There are a lot of problems with it. You cannot even type in a new URL as there is no address bar. In-app browsers do not store login information so you will have to re-type it every time you revisit. There is no browser history either. Most of the times, you end up opening in Chrome anyway. Basically, in-app browsers exist to keep you from leaving. However, you can force the links to open in an external browser by default on the Facebook app. Here’s how to open links on an external browser on Facebook.
Open Links On An External Browser in Facebook
Follow the steps below to change the default browser;
Step 1: Open the Facebook app.
Step 2: Log in to your account if you haven’t.
Step 3: Tap on the hamburger menu.
Step 4: Scroll down and find Settings & Privacy.
Step 5: Tap on Settings.
Step 6: Find Media and Contacts.
Step 7: Tap on the toggle beside Links open externally to enable it.
This is it. All the links you tap on while on Facebook will now open on the device’s default browser. Now, you can browse any link with the full power of an actual browser.
