Google had promised that the devices under the Android One series will get direct updates from the company, and that has started. One of the Android One devices, Micromax Canvas A1 starts getting Android 5.1 Lollipop update over the air in India, and this makes it the first under the series to get updated to latest version of Android. The lowly fair-priced handset has got the update even before the mighty flagships of other branded smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, Sony and LG, which has made its owners happy unlimited!
If you are one of the proud owners of the Micromax Canvas A1, you can follow the follow these simple steps to update your handset to the latest version of Android:
- Connect your Micromax Canvas A1 to Wi-Fi. Please ensure your battery is above 30% (50% is recommended, so please plug-in your handset first, if it does not has enough charge).
- You have probably already been notified about the update by your handset. In case not, you can manually check update from Settings >> About phone >> system update. There, you will get a message indicating the Android 5.1 System update with a ‘download’ button beneath its explanation.
- Click on the download button. Downloading will begin. (You would like to connect to a WiFi network before beginning the download, since the file size is quite high)
- After package downloads completely, notification comes on idle screen.
- Touch this notification to install, it goes to System update.
- Click on ‘Restart and install’ button.
Your Micromax Canvas A1 will reboot and update to Android Lollipop 5.1. It will take a plenty of minutes, but be ready to wait for the good. Android 5.1 (Lollipop) update for Micromax Canvas A1 is 409.8MB, similar to the Spice Dream UNO. Since the update will roll out gradually, it might take sometime to reach your smartphone. The Android 5.1 update brings improvements and bug fixes over the the 5.0 installment in several areas. Most notable to the end user is the return of silent mode, as well as better quick settings implementation for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
