HTC has launched the new and redefined version of its critically acclaimed One M8- the HTC One M8s. This handset, which will be available at a cheaper price has a 64-bit less powerful processor than the One M8, and the camera is different to. Rest of the specs are almost the same.

The HTC One M8s does not stand so high in case of the other specs though, if compared to the flagships. It features a 5-inches Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) capacitive display, which has a pixel density of 441 ppi. The handset is sleek, having dimensions of 146.4 x 70.6 x 9.6 mm and it weighs just 160 grams. The phone will have 16 or 32 GB of internal memory with 2 GB of RAM and with an option of expandable storage option via microSD card upto 128 GB. For the processing power, there will be Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset, compiled with Quad-core 1 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU, and Adreno 405 GPU for gaming and graphics. For the photography and videography options, this smartphone will have a 13 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED Flash which can capture videos upto 1080p @ 30 fps, and a 5 MP secondary camera for video calls and selfies. This device will have the 4 MP in-depth sensor camera in its rear end as well, similar to the One M8. The juice will be provided by a Non-removable Li-Po 2840 mAh battery. For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi. The phone will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system out of box with HTC’s Sense UI over it, and we can’t say anything about the future updates. The phone will be available in Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold color options.

The HTC One M8s is launching in the UK first at £380, close to the current price of the original HTC One (M8) model and well below the new HTC One M9. Other European countries will get the One M8s as well, but it’s not clear if it will leave the old continent.

We would never know what HTC is up to, the company also had a recent change in the top management position. All we can do is to wish the release of the HTC One M8s won’t effect the sales of its this year’s flagship- the HTC One M9, which was launched in the MWC last month.
