HTC Nexus 9: specs and details

Along with the launch of Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone, Google had also announced a new tablet under the Nexus series- the HTC Nexus 9, which comes with the 8.9 inch display, the latest version of Android and other high-end specs.

While discussing about the specs of the HTC Nexus 9, it features a 8.9-inch 1536 x 2048 pixels IPS LCD capacitive display, which has a pixel density of 281 ppi. The tablet sports a sleek profile with dimensions 228.2 x 153.7 x 7.9 mm. The Wi-Fi model of this device will weigh 425 grams, and the 3G/LTE model will weigh 436 grams which is quite heavy but is fine given the display size. The tablet will have 16 or 32 GB of internal memory, with no any option of expandable storage, as always done in the Nexus devices. It has 2 GB RAM,  and for the processing power, there will be a Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset complied with a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Denver CPU, and an Kepler DX1 GPU for gaming and graphics. For the photography and videography options, this tablet will have a 8 MP primary camera with touch focus, autofocus, face detection, geo-tagging and LED flash which can capture videos upto 1080p @ 30 fps, and a 1.6 MP secondary camera for video calls and selfies. The juice will be provided by a Non-removable Li-Ion 6700 mAh battery, and the talktime which it can give is not yet revealed (we can experiment it later ourselves, or wait till others do this and tell us). HTC has also brought its BoomSound speaker technology to this tablet. For the connectivity options, there will be LTE support, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and NFC. The tablet will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, which is announced simultaneously with the launch of this device. The OS of this device will be pure and stock Android, as Google has always been doing with the Nexus devices. The tablet will be available only  in Indigo Black, Lunar White and Sand color options.

The processor of this device is 64-bit, and it is the feature which is highly being emphasized by Google. Not having the expandable storage will suck, but the 64 GB model will be of somewhat relief. The tablet has the brushed metal sides and what Google calls a “soft grip back”. A standout feature of the device is actually one of its peripherals. Google has announced an accompanying keyboard folio that magnetically attaches to the Nexus 9, folds into two different angles, and rests on the user’s lap like a laptop (we can expect that Google is trying to take on the space the Microsoft Surface currently occupies). Google also claims that the HTC Nexus 9 is small enough to fit in a single hand, unlike the Nexus 10 which was relatively large.

The pre-orders for the HTC Nexus 9 will begin on October 17th and you can expect the tablet to start showing up in stores on November 3rd. Google is planning to make it available in 29 countries, over the upcoming few weeks. Nexus 9, for soon enough will come in three configurations: 16GB for $399, 32GB for $479, and an LTE-enabled 32GB model for $599. The LTE version and the sand colour version are said not to be released till later this year.
