HTC Desire 320 goes official

In an event in CES, HTC has announced a new budget smartphone- HTC Desire 320. This phone brings some pretty good specs to the low-ended phone, 1080p video recording and a quad-core processor are some of them.

The HTC Desire 320 does not stand so high in case of the other specs though, since it is targeted for budget users. It features a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480 x 854 pixels) TFT capacitive display, which has a pixel density of 218 ppi. The handset is sleek, having dimensions of 132 x 67.8 x 10.5 mm and it weighs just 145 grams. The phone will have two versions, one for EU and one for North America, and the EU version will have 8 GB of internal memory with 1 GB of RAM, and the North America version will have 4 GB of internal memory with 512 MB of RAM. Both devices will have the expandable storage option via microSD card upto 32 GB. For the processing power, there will be quad Core 1.3 GHzCPU, but the chipset and GPU are not specified yet. For the photography and videography options, this smartphone will have a 5 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED Flash (only for the EU Model) which can capture videos upto 1080p @ 30 fps, and a VGA MP secondary camera for video calls and selfies. The juice will be provided by a Non-removable Li-Po 2100 mAh battery, which will give the talktime of upto 12 hours on 3G. For the connectivity options, there will be 3G support, microUSB v2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi. The phone will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system with HTC’s Sense UI over it, and we can’t say anything about the future updates. The phone will be available in only two color options- Meridian Gray and White.

While the EU version of the phone seems to be fine, the North American version seems pathetic. There is no LED Flash, the memory options are pretty low, and it doesn’t even have a FM Radio (the EU model has it). There are no words on whether the price for both the versions will be similar or different, but the phone is already on sale on Canada ($99 pre-paid, $70 on Telus), and this is the North American version indeed.
