Imagine that you are in your tea-shop, and you are so forgetful that while returning from there, you forgot pick up your Android smartphone from the table and in addition to that, you forgot even to lock it. How would the situation be? Think about the insecurities that you would have to face from that. Your secret data, and everything you keep in your smartphone get in the risk of being stolen. How would it be, if your smartphone would lock itself as soon as you put it somewhere (you would at least not have the risk of your data being stolen from that)!
If you are one of those, or not even so, if you just want that type of security, Google already knows it. Google has rolled out a cool new smart lock feature for device for Android devices running on Lollipop 5.0 or higher versions, and this is known as ‘on-body detection’ feature. This feature uses the device’s accelerometer to detect if the owner is holding the phone or not, which is certainly a cool feature to have.
Most of the Android Lollipop devices have already got the update, and if you have not, don’t be impatient, the update is so new and it it certainly on its way to your device. Now the question goes, do you know how to set up ‘on-body detection’ in your Android Lollipop handset? You might not, if you are a newbie for the OS. So, here we are up with a guide for that. To install and set up ‘on-body detection’ on you Android device is not so hard, all you have to do is follow these simple steps:
- Go to your device’s Menu >> Settings >> Security.
- From there, go to the Smart Lock. You should confirm your pattern/PIN for this.
- Inside the Smart Lock, you will see the option as ‘On-body Detection’, if you have already got it. Tap on it.
- You will get a warning notice, all you have to do is press on ‘OK’, and you’re done.
You now have set up ‘On-body detection’ feature in your Android handset running on Lollipop, and now your device is on the next level of security.
