How to get Facebook notifications without the Facebook App in Android?

Browsing Facebook through the Facebook app is undeniably a lot easier, and gives a smooth experience. But all of us know that it is a memory hog. It stores literally everything, and can easily eat over 500 MB of your smartphone. Not only the memory, it eats a lot of RAM too, and can cause your smartphone to hang or perform low. The case may not be intense in the high end smartphones which have powerful processing units and huge amount of RAM and internal memory, but for the low and mid range devices, the situation is worsening. I had owned a Moto E before, and I had to clear cache of the app every day. Bothered by the repeated process for a long time, I finally had to uninstall the Facebook App from my device.

Well, there are certainly some confinements of not having the Facebook App in your smartphone. You might miss out the important notifications, on which you may have to reply or react instantly. That can be a cause of trouble, if not, you might not get a good feeling missing Facebook’s important notifications. If you are a newbie to Android, you might also not know that you can actually receive all of the Facebook notifications, even if you don’t have the Facebook app installed on your device. To help you with that, here we are sharing some methods on how to get Facebook Notifications without the Facebook App in Android:

  1. Use the Chrome browser to get notifications:- It might seem silly, but why let two of the equally intense memory eating apps run at the same time if you can get the work all done by one? I understand that many of us are allergic to Chrome, but you can’t even uninstall it. If you can’t uninstall it from your android device (well, unless your phone is rooted), why not use it to get Facebook Notifications than to leave it as it is? For this;
    • Ensure that Chrome is updated to the latest version. The latest version can be verified by visiting Google Play.
    • Open Chrome.
    • Go to m.facebook.com and sign into your account.
    • Tap the “Allow” button when the request to allow push notification shows up.

    To verify, tap the three-dot menu button. This will lead to the Settings. From there, select the Site Settings option. Under the Notification option, check if Facebook is in the Allowed section.

  2. Use TinFoil for Facebook: Not only for Facebook, this app will allow you uninstall many of the other social media apps too, which can eventually free a lot of your phone’s memory. Though not much popular, this can be  a much useful app once you get used to it. Tinfoil is basically just a web-view app, meaning it looks like an app but all it really does is launch a web-view version of Facebook when you open it. It doesn’t cache data, sync notifications or consume system resources in the background.If you still want to get push notifications though, all you need to do is install IFTTT and add the Facebook push notifications recipe. For this you just need to follow these simple steps:
  3. Get Notifications via Email: This is one of the oldest methods. You might probably have already have unsubscribed all the email notifications from Facebook being bothered by getting them too much. But if you want to get Facebook notifications without the Facebook app in Android, you will have to visit the email notifications settings and enable them again. To not get them too much, you can select a particular range of emails that you want to receive, and Facebook will help you with that. Once you enable that, you will get emails in your Android handset and then decide whether you have to check in to your Facebook Account or not.

  1. This is now broken because FB took away RSS feeds (Just TRY to find RSS anything on FB and you can’t– it’s been wiped clean that RSS feed notifications ever existed). What to do NOW?
