Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is a nifty little gadget that rests comfortably on your wrist and provides you with data about fitness, body composition, and much more. It also comes with real-time GPS that doesn’t rely on a connection to your Android phone to work. This results in a more accurate location but there have been complaints about it not working properly. People have been complaining that they cannot get the location to work on their Watch 4 no matter what application they use. This is an annoying situation for those who rely on GPS every day. Don’t worry though, we will list a couple of troubleshooting methods you can try to make it work. If it is not a hardware issue, one of the solutions will fix the issue. Here’s how to fix GPS not working on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
GPS Not Working on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4
While it is difficult to narrow down to the exact issue that is causing the GPS to misbehave, we have a couple of easy-to-perform solutions you can try to fix the issue.
Update Watch 4
Amidst your busy life, you might have missed the notification about an update. That is understandable. Samsung promptly rolls out updates for any prevailing issues and might have done the same for this issue too. Check for updates. If there is one, download and install it right away and see if the issue is gone. If not, move on to the next solution.
Restart
A simple restart fixes a lot of common and small issues you might be facing with your device. If restarting doesn’t seem to fix the issue, try going outdoors and restarting again. Sometimes the walls and any metallic object in your house might cause the GPS to misbehave. Press and hold the power button and then tap on Power Off, and see if the issue is fixed.
Check Connection
This is a pretty common issue with Watch 4’s GPS. Your smartphone needs to be connected to the internet for Watch 4’s GPS to work properly. If you’re on mobile data, maybe the network is not strong at the time you were facing this issue. Check the status of your mobile network by going to Settings > About Phone > Status Information > Sim Card Status. Make sure the network says connected. Restart your smartphone if it doesn’t say “connected”.
Check Bluetooth Connection
For the GPS feature on your Watch 4 to work, you need to have a stable Bluetooth connection between the watch and your smartphone. To check if that’s the case, go to Galaxy Wearable app > Tap on Home > Check if it is connected via Bluetooth. If it is not connected, try turning Bluetooth off and on again.
Reset Watch 4
If you’re sure the issue is not hardware related, you can reset your watch as a last resort. To do so, go to Galaxy Wearable app > check of watch is connected > tap on Watch settings > General > Reset > Confirm.
If none of the solutions work, then you will need to either replace the watch or go to a Samsung Galaxy service center.
