OnePlus has been setting the bar for affordability in high-end flagships since the day they unveiled the OnePlus 1 with the tagline “Flagship Killer” and since then, they have been true to that. Their price might have gotten a little bit higher but OnePlus still releases flagship killer. With the release of the new OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, they have set a new bar height for flagships that are actually affordable. The design might be borrowed from their previous flagships, but it still magnificent and sleek with a waterfall display and a small punch-hole for the secondary camera. With Snapdragon 865 and with a maximum of 12 GB of RAM, the phone will undoubtedly handle everything you throw at it (I’m talking about the performance. Do not throw things at it). With specs like that in a package that is cheaper than most flagships available on the market, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro is definitely a steal. But sometimes, even the mightiest flagships suffer some failures not because they have inferior hardware, but because the software got some issues. The same goes for OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. There have been reports of delayed push notification on these two phones. This guide is here to help you fix that. Here’s how to fix OnePlus 8 delayed app notification.
Fix OnePlus 8 Delayed App Notification
The users of OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro have been complaining that they are not getting the notifications on time from apps like Facebook or WhatsApp or any other apps for that matter.
A user on OnePlus’s official forum stated that “When I open WhatsApp for example, I get my notifications when opening, not when they actually arrive. Is there any setting that influences the notifications?”.
Some cases were fixed when users disabled the RAM boost but that didn’t work. Like this user from XDA forums who stated, “My Push bullet and FB Messenger messages are severely delayed after I switched to the 8 Pro. I’ve made sure to disable the RAM boost, also disabling any battery optimizations for said apps. Yet, most of the time, I don’t receive any messages until I manually open the app in question. Not sure what else I should change or if this is a system issue. I never had these issues on my OP6 and used the same settings there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.”
So how do you fix these delays? Let’s get on to the solution.
Fix OnePlus 8 Delayed App Notification
OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro come with aggressive battery saving features and RAM management. This is good but it can cause problems such as this delay in-app notification that we’re talking about. So here’s how to fix delay.
- Head over to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization.
- Look for the apps that you’re getting delayed notification.
- Tap on it and then tap on Don’t Optimize.
This will basically do the trick but if you want to be extra sure, you can lock those apps to make sure they always run on background. To do so,
- Open the Recent Apps page.
- Press and hold the app window.
- Tap on Lock in the menu.
- If you want to remove it later on, follow the same steps, and tap on Unlock.

If the above solutions didn’t work, try these extra steps.
- Disable Adaptive Battery and Sleep Standby Optimization from Advanced Optimization for Battery.
